Lynne Fowler, Founding Principal
Lynne Fowler is a 25-year veteran of the energy finance industry. Her broad-based experience stretches across the financial sector, from managing a global infrastructure fund, to corporate finance for the oil and gas industry. Over the last decade, Ms. Fowler has studied global energy markets within the context of global stock markets, currencies, and commodities.
Her knowledge of energy policy spans China, India, Japan, Europe, and South America where she has traveled extensively to meet with energy executives and policy makers. She attributes her investment success to understanding the regulatory environments, along with the conflicting economic and political trends, in which they operate. She witnessed first hand the energy transition which began in Europe. This expertise combines with her financial background to give her a unique insight into how global energy markets and government energy policies intersect, affecting demand and ultimately commodity prices.
Astera Group offers strategic advisory services for new investment opportunities, perspectives on energy markets and operational consulting services. Previously, Ms. Fowler served as a portfolio manager for the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) where she managed a global energy infrastructure fund for the $26 billion ERS Retirement Trust Fund. Her experience in developing markets gives her a firm understanding of long-term trends in energy demand. During her international travels, Ms. Fowler consulted with Chinese energy developers, regulators, academics, associations, and manufacturers.
Ms. Fowler has been a panelist at infrastructure conferences including the Institutional Infrastructure Investors and the PEI Real Assets. Ms. Fowler began her financial career as an oil and gas banker at ING Barings. Ms. Fowler received her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a CFA Charterholder.
